Johannesburg-based industrialised thrash metal machine Chaos Doctrine’s third album ‘Bellum‘ is set for release on 26 April, with a launch show on 27 April at Studio 69. ‘Bellum’ promises to leave a scorched earth in its wake, with 9 blistering tracks delivering everything we have come to expect from Chaos Doctrine … and a whole lot more!

As the countdown to the release of ‘Bellum’ continues, the band has been building momentum with the reintroduction of singles released from the album, ‘Lifting the Veil‘ and ‘Martyr‘, as well as ‘One of My Bad Days‘, which unleashes a new music video today.

Lauded by Metal Hammer as one of the ’10 Best New Metal Songs Of The Week’ and one of the ‘100 Best Metal Songs 2023’, this 3rd single ‘One of My Bad Days’ presents a gripping narrative of introspection. The track delves into the psyche of a troubled individual, offering a chilling portrayal of their inner turmoil.

Now, fans can immerse themselves in this tale through an industrious blend of authentic band footage and storytelling, expertly captured by filmmaker Pierre Smith. Pierre, known for his work on Chaos Doctrine’s previous track, ‘Father Grigori’ brings to life the psychopathic aggression of this track, offering viewers a visceral journey into the band’s dark and relentless sonic landscape.

Vocalist Dr. D shares, “We’ve been eager to create this video for some time now. Bringing together our collective vision was truly a rewarding experience.” Guitarist and band producer Alec Surridge adds, “Working on this project was a labor of love. We wanted to capture the essence of our music while delivering something fresh and captivating. We wanted to infuse elements of our influences while maintaining our signature sound. The result is a track that pays homage to classic thrash metal while pushing boundaries.” Bassist and visual artist Phil Carstens shares his thoughts, stating, “This track embodies the raw energy of old-school thrash metal. It’s a testament to our passion for the genre and our commitment to delivering authentic music.” Drummer Jason Eedes reflects on the track, saying, “From the moment I heard it, I was hooked. The energy and intensity of the music are undeniable. It’s a track that really comes to life when performed live.”  This marks the second collaboration with talented South African visual artist Ras Steyn. His captivating artwork perfectly complements the mood of the track, adding an extra layer of depth to the overall experience. Ras Steyn himself remarks, “Working with Chaos Doctrine was a fantastic experience. Their music inspired me to create something truly unique, and I’m excited to see it come to life.”
