Darkhold is a new heavy thrash metal band born from differents paths of its own elements (former members of methedras, nefastis, self disgrace and syndrome), whose skills and personal attitudes melted up together into the preachers, the only european tribute to american thrashers testament. There are immediately need and urgency to show up personal creativity and taste in order to build up original stuffs, where the main word is compositional freedom: 9 songs full of rhythmic intensity, ‘80 and ‘90 thrash backlashes, classic heavy metal, modern groove and melodic biting vocal solutions.

UPTHEVOLUME – Why from Testament cover band to DIY band?
DARKHOLD –
We started as a Testament tribute band because we really love them and because we were, and we still are, the only one tribute band in Europe of the american thrash legend, but since the beginning we knew that we could do more than that, and the creation of an original band was in our plan since that time, and we are so proud of it because Darkhold is the sum of all our experience and constance in our history path.

UPTHEVOLUME – How much is original in your latest work and how much is Testament-inspired?
DARKHOLD –
With no doubt there is a strong influence by Testament, for the reason just explained, but also with no doubt there is a strong will to create something that could sound original for us (themes, lyrics, concept and stuffs) and for the Italian metal scene, recently so straight directed to violence sound or metalcore influences; for these reasons you can find influences from other metal band like Megadeth, Pantera or Machine Head, not forgetting the roots of our music.

UPTHEVOLUME – In which country other than Italy do you think your genre would be popular?
DARKHOLD –
We are pretty sure that heavy and thrash are a strong base of favourite metal all over the world, so we think that our music could be appreciated in many European and American countries, because it’s based on the taste of pure metal from 80’s and 90’s, the real bible for all metalheads in the world.

UPTHEVOLUME – How a song is born and how much time do you spend on it on average?
DARKHOLD –
Most of the songs in Tales From Hell born by a guitar riff or a vocal refrain, but it’s the team work that make the real difference on these stuffs: the time we spend for their creation is variable, because every solo, every scream, every drum fill in or every bass bridge have been created to develop in the best way the structure of each song.

UPTHEVOLUME – How are the live shows going and what are you and the band hoping to gain?
DARKHOLD –
We are simply astonished by the response we had from the people who came to our shows, from the amazing release party to the last show few weeks ago, and we can’t wait to be again on stage soon, because from November to May we have other 10 gigs in front of Italian metalheads and we are already planning to do some summer gigs in open air festivals, because we really hope to “spread the disease” of our metal madness everywhere in every time

UPTHEVOLUME – Say hello to our readers with a message
DARKHOLD –
We wanna thank all of you at UPTHEVOLUME and we hope to see and meet you at one of our gigs, we are sure you will appreciate our sound and stuffs with many horns up, genuine headbanging, moshpit and wall of death, and don’t forget to repent your sins to the Darkhold.
